Delhi MSMEs Visited by High-Level German Delegation from Friedrich Naumann Foundation

A high-level German delegation visited micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Delhi, aiming to understand India’s vital MSME sector and its economic contributions. The delegation, led by Frank Müller-Rosentritt, Member of Parliament, Free Democratic Party, Germany, and Dr. Carsten Klein, Head of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) South Asia Regional Office, also included Frank Hoffmann, Regional Project Manager, and Himanshu Chawla, Regional Communication and Program Manager.

The FNF team expressed appreciation for the sector’s role in economic growth and employment, discussing ways for MSMEs to advance and promote sustainable growth. Their visit highlighted the potential for collaboration between Germany and India to support the sector’s development.

Facilitated by the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC), a public trust established in 2005, the visit showcased FMC’s achievements in sustainability, including reducing 41,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually in foundry clusters, creating enterprises using 163,000 tonnes of foundry slag, and replacing 1,800 tonnes of unsustainable materials with bamboo. FNF has been a partner in these efforts, promoting resource efficiency in MSME clusters across India.

Friedrich Naumann Foundation operates in over 60 countries, promoting economic freedom, human rights, urban governance, and digital transformation. Through this visit, the FNF team gained insights into India’s MSME sector and its role in the industrial landscape, exploring areas for future collaboration.
